Yoann Haméon – Saxophonist and Composer
Born in Rennes (1975), Yoann Haméon discovered music at the Clermont-Ferrand Conservatory, beginning with the cello before turning to the saxophone at the age of eight. He studied with Jean-Claude Dodin at the Blois Regional Conservatory, where he unanimously won a First Prize in saxophone in 1993.
He continued his classical and contemporary studies at the Boulogne-Billancourt Regional Conservatory with Jean-Michel Goury, winning a First Prize unanimously in 1995. He is also a winner of several national and international competitions, including:

➤ Léopold Bellan Competition.
➤ Bayreuth Competition.
➤ Bordeaux Competition.
At the same time, passionate about jazz, he took classes at the CIM with Jean-Claude Fohrenbach, enriching his playing and developing an eclectic style.
A career combining teaching and performing.
Convinced of the importance of musical transmission, he obtained:
➤ State Diploma in Classical Saxophone (CEFEDEM de Rueil-Malmaison, 1996).
➤ Diploma of Professor of Artistic Education from the Ministry of the Interior (2004).
➤ State Diploma in Jazz (2007).
Thanks to his varied career, he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, sharing the stage with:
➤ Urban Sax.
➤ Supertramp (Bercy, 2002).
➤ Baptiste Herbin and Mickaël Chéret.
➤ Conductor Bernard Yanota, notably for the world premiere of Mark Blitzstein's musical "The Cradle Will Rock."
He also participated in numerous contemporary creations at the World Saxophone Congresses:
➤ St Andrews (2012).
➤ Strasbourg (2015).
➤ Zagreb (2018).
Musical Projects and Personal Creations
Since 2000, he has been a member of Tentet au Carré, led by Christophe Violland, exploring a soul/funk repertoire through explosive arrangements based on the works of The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson.
In 2018, he founded his own band, YHAM 4tet, with:
➤ Jérôme Picard (guitar, composition).
➤ Ken Parassouramin (drums).
➤ Philippe Monge (double bass).
➤ Yoann Haméon (saxophones).
This project reflects his personal musical universe, blending jazz, groove, and improvised influences.
