Sophie Poulin de Courval, saxophonist and passionate creator, explores original and multidisciplinary projects.

A concert performer and educator, she blends music, heritage, and visual arts to offer rich and innovative experiences.

Recognized for her dynamism and the originality of her projects, Sophie Poulin de Courval collaborates with numerous artists and musicians. She has given concerts in Quebec, New Brunswick, the United States, Romania, France, and Italy.

A musical and artistic career enriched by diversity

Trained under Pierre Bourque and Jean Bouchard at the Conservatories of Music of Quebec and Rimouski, she has deepened her skills in both musical performance and artistic management. Her talent and commitment have earned her several awards, including scholarships from the CALQ, the Caisses Desjardins Youth Fund, and the Kamouraska MRC Artists and Artisans Fund.

At the same time, she develops innovative educational and cultural projects:

➤ "Music is Scientific," a workshop designed with clarinetist Rino Bélanger, which explores the link between instruments and science.

➤ Since 2005, she has led talks to prepare and enrich audiences' listening skills at classical concerts at the Rivière-du-Loup Cultural Center.

A Multidisciplinary Artistic Commitment

Fascinated by the fusion of the arts, she produced a book-CD with organist Jacques Boucher, in collaboration with:

➤ Painter Miguel Forest.

➤ Photographer Caroline Bolieu.

➤ Writer Odile Thibault.

➤ Composer Dominique Joubert.

This project explores an artistic and musical perspective on the landscapes of Kamouraska.

Passionate about cultural heritage, she creates a show inspired by Rogations, an ancient rural tradition from the beginning of the 20th century.

Recordings and Musical Creations

Her duo with Jacques Boucher is distinguished by a unique fusion of the sound colors of the saxophone and the organ. Together, they have recorded:

➤ Four albums.

➤ Four music videos.

Their complicity and the sensitivity of their interpretations make their collaboration an original and striking artistic signature.
