Korean saxophonist Seokjun Yang is praised by his country's most influential critics, composers, and conductors. Winner of first prize at the Korean Music Association Competition, the most prestigious saxophone competition in Korea, he has distinguished himself in numerous other national and international competitions.
In 2018, he was unanimously accepted by the jury of the Kumho Young Artist audition, giving his first recital at the Kumho Art Hall. During his senior year of university, he was selected as the best wind instrumentalist at his school, and he represented his section in an official concert. On the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty, he was invited to perform in Chosun Media's "Debut" concert, becoming the first saxophonist to receive the title of "Breakthrough Artist of the Year" in 84 years.
Seokjun Yang has performed on prestigious stages, such as the US Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the Asian Saxophone Congress.
A graduate of Hanyang University, he earned a Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA). He has studied with Brandon Jinwoo Choi, Wonki Lee, Yoonseok Lee, and James Bunte.
