Martijne van Dijk, Dutch saxophonist with an international career, is distinguished by her luminous sound and refined artistic approach.

Trained with leading masters in France, she now shares her knowledge with musicians and her creative energy with audiences. A passionate artist, she blends virtuosity, pedagogy, and emotion.

From an early age, Martijne developed a passion for music. At just 4 years old, she fell in love with the recorder thanks to Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4. She then turned to the piano, before discovering the saxophone, which became her true instrument of choice.

Her connection with the saxophone was immediate: after only two years of study, she entered the Brabants Conservatorium in Tilburg.

There, she earned her diplomas as a teaching musician and performer, while developing a solid musical foundation under the guidance of outstanding professors such as Ad van Sleuwen, Tijn Vaes, and Martien van Woerkum.

Seeking a purer, brighter, and more transparent sound, Martijne continued her studies in France with two exceptional masters: Jean-Denis Michat in Lyon and Claude Delangle at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.

She earned her DFS in saxophone and also completed chamber music studies with the Axone Saxophone Quartet, alongside Gurvan Péron, Géraud Etrillard, and Cédric Carceles. Together, they studied with renowned musicians such as David Walter, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, and Michel Moraguès, obtaining a third cycle diploma in chamber music.

Today, Martijne shares her experience with advanced and motivated saxophonists, helping them become more fulfilled musicians. She also advises teachers and institutions on pedagogical strategies and the quality of music education.

On stage, she seeks to transport her audience, share emotion, and reveal the magic of music. She regularly performs with the Axone Saxophone Quartet, the Ensemble Modern, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
