THE BIOGRAPHY OF LUIS MARÍA GONZÁLEZ JIMÉNEZ

Luis María González Jiménez is a renowned Spanish saxophonist, winner of ten international competitions, and trained at the greatest European institutions.

Passionate about contemporary art and teaching, he pursues an artistic and academic career between France and Spain.

He currently teaches at the CRD de Meudon and holds the position of principal saxophone player in the Orchestre de la Ville d'Almería.

Luis María González Jiménez began his studies with a Bachelor's degree in performing music at the Rafael Orozco Conservatory of Music in Córdoba, as well as at the Conservatory of Music in Malaga under the tutelage of Álvaro Ariza, where he obtained the highest distinction, summa cum laude. He continued his training with a Master's degree in "Music, Performance and Heritage" at the University of Paris-Saclay and at the Conservatory of Versailles (CRR-VGP) in the class of Vincent David, graduating with honors. In June 2021, he received his Advanced Diploma from the Versailles Conservatory of Music, in Nicolas Arsenijevic's class.

With his quartet, the Gaman Ensemble, he received a unanimous honors in his Master's degree in Chamber Music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) under the direction of David Walter in 2022. He recently recorded his first recording project with this ensemble at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada, under the IBS Classical label.

Winner of ten international first prizes, he has performed in prestigious venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Salle Cortot, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Festival Radio France in Montpellier.

Passionate about contemporary creation, he collaborates with composers such as Félix Ibarrondo, Maël Bailly, Orlando Bass, and David Soley, who dedicated several original works to him. He has also been supported by numerous institutions, including the Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse, the Fondations de France, Legs Jabès, Marie Fournier, Daniel and Nina Carasso, PSL University, and Adami.

Alongside his artistic career, he is a doctoral student at the University of Granada, where he is writing a thesis in neuropsychology and musicology. Deeply committed to working with highly sensitive people (HSPs), he is a member of the Spanish Association of High Sensitivity Professionals (APAS) and follows Françoise Dorocq's DOLCE teaching method for specialized education. In 2023, he published a book on interpretation as a creative process in the saxophone repertoire, published by Dykinson.

Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Saxophone Pedagogy at the CNSMDP (working toward the Teaching Aptitude Certificate), Luis María González Jiménez is a saxophone professor at the Marcel Dupré Departmental Conservatory in Meudon, near Paris, and principal saxophone of the Orchestra of the City of Almería (OCAL), in Andalusia.
