Originally from Martinique, Jean-Philippe Meyniac discovered the saxophone at the age of twelve, inspired by his grandmother, Mamie Tilo.
He took his first musical steps at the Le Diapason music school in Trinité, under the guidance of Joël Littorie, and then continued his journey at Bellevue High School in the music section with Mrs. Bellance.
Eager to perfect his craft, he joined the prestigious American School of Modern Music in Paris, where he studied for four years and developed a solid command of jazz language and contemporary music.
Building on this experience, Jean-Philippe collaborated with several kompa groups before returning to Martinique in 2015.
Since then, he has thrived in diverse musical worlds and shared the stage with many renowned artists: Kali, Tanya Saint-Val, Jacob Desvarieux, Simon Jurad, Wanazik, Jocelyne Béroard, Kassav’, Tony Chasseur, and Ben l’Oncle Soul.
