Aigars Raumanis is a Latvian saxophonist who received the prestigious Grand Music Award in 2019, Latvia's highest musical distinction.
A committed and creative artist, he has performed as a soloist with ensembles such as the Sinfonietta Rīga, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Armed Forces Orchestra, the Latvian Radio Big Band, and the Lithuanian Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has also collaborated with numerous symphony and opera orchestras: the Latvian National Opera, the Liepāja Orchestra, and the Baltic Musical Seasons Festival Orchestra, with whom he has performed throughout Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Trained at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, the Sibelius Academy (Finland), and the University of A graduate of the Rhin Arts program in Strasbourg, he is currently pursuing a professional doctorate under the supervision of Krists Auznieks (theoretical research) and Philippe Geiss (artistic practice).
At the same time, he has enriched his artistic career during Erasmus exchanges in France and Finland, in addition to benefiting from the teaching of major figures such as Joonatan Rautiola, Ilona Meija, and Artis Sīmanis.
A winner of numerous international competitions, he received the Grand Prize at the New York Classical Music Competition in 2023, as well as a first prize in chamber music in Latvia.
He has released several albums with ensembles such as the Tresensus Trio and the Atomos Saxophone Quartet, under the SKANI label, and regularly participates in European residencies and projects (Ulysses Platform).
Very active in teaching, Aigars Raumanis gives masterclasses in Latvia, Estonia, and and France, and teaches at summer music camps. He has trained numerous young saxophonists, while also exploring contemporary musical transmission.
He has also attended masterclasses with Tim Roberts, Philippe Geiss, Asya Fateyeva, Vincent David, and many others.
